While body piercing is hardly taboo, some people feel the need to crank it up to the extreme and puncture, pierce and mutilate themselves in the most extreme ways imaginable.
Surprisingly, not all people who practice extreme body piercing are attention whores who were unloved as children. At the Phuket Vegetarian Festival in Thailand, the extreme piercers believe that jabbing huge objects through their flesh will bring the community good luck and release evil spirits from the body.
